Significant Accomplishments

Lead the design, development, deployment and validation of a complete manufacturing test infrastructure to support the high volume (500k/month) offshore manufacture of a leading complex consumer electronics product. Recruited, staffed and lead the multi-disciplined effort leveraging local and off-shore resources; managed equipment budgets of > $45M expensed through direct procurement, design services and assembly outsourcing. Launched production with first pass yields (FPY) in excess of 95%.

Assigned the RFP response for my mid-sized consultancy employer’s largest potential program in company history; Authored, pitched and won a beefed-up proposal that was quadruple the original responsibility, scope and dollar amount; Charged with the program execution, final delivery and integration; Lead and directed the efforts of over 100 managers and multi-disciplined local, off-shore and outsourced technical staff on the multi-million, multi-faceted program. Delivered initial working prototype hardware on new silicon in less than 6 weeks. Delivered the effort working with Sales, Business Development, Practice Area Managers, Legal and Executive staff while juggling scope changes throughout the program.

Charged with management of all company software and hardware product development efforts leveraging a technical staff of over 35 embedded and application software engineers, systems engineers and testers; grew department staffing by over 60% in 9 months to accommodate a rapidly increasing project workload; managed the work activity on over 10 concurrent client (embedded) development and sustaining projects, 5 internal development initiatives, and constantly supported new proposal activities to expand our customer/client base.

Led and managed software and hardware development teams leveraging Agile development methodologies for a fast growing, small communications software company.  Operated in the capacity of project manager, product manager, functional manager and customer liaison for the company’s primary revenue government customer. Delivered multiple successive proof of concept projects to maintain a steady revenue stream while the company concentrated on non-revenue producing future product offerings.

Conceptualized, designed and convinced management to fund a model train based system to test wireless network handoff; with an unprecedented repeatability the system helped to surface and isolate elusive code bugs drastically accelerating product readiness and quality. The resultant financial and opportunity savings easily exceeded a 100x return on investment.

Built fixtures, wrote protocols and test reports and performed testing for the Ekos product’s system qualification and software validation.  Documented and executed all software verification and validation activities for Ekos’ internal and delivered software products.

Program Manager and Manager Quality Assurance

Directed design, development and deployment of a fully automated company-to-company software build transfer, deployment and test process improving test turnaround and quality feedback time by over 800%; the resultant system enabled testing of up to 4 complete pre-release operating system builds daily on over $2M in IT servers and hardware allowing for broad platform coverage and exceptionally quick product quality feedback.

Managed joint development projects and technical engagements between HP’s server division and the Microsoft engineering community, acting as technical liaison between HP-Houston and Microsoft developers to identify, debug and track issues with operating systems, applications and HP drivers and software.

Responsible for Test Management and company’s Y2K compliance project. Managed a staff of engineers to assess and remediate date related computer problems. Scope included the company’s infrastructure, manufactured products and developed software.
